What is Book in a Nook?

Book in a Nook is an animated read-aloud series that sparks curiosity, builds comprehension, and makes learning fun!
Young readers should be provided an environment where they feel confident to speak up and think aloud when they need time to unpack something. After all, half of the fun lies in reading between the lines.
Our core mission is to foster lifelong learning and curiosity. Kids and grownups alike can learn from Mango's and Papa's banter, and apply some of those learning strategies in their own nooks at home, with any book.
Book in a Nook doesn’t compete with book time; it promotes and fosters book time!

Book in a Nook isn't just for kids — it's for...
Parents
Need a moment to catch your breath while your child learns and laughs? We’ve got you. Each episode is screen-time you can feel good about — full of rich vocabulary, life lessons, and a gentle sense of wonder. You’ll even find conversation starters and printable activities to help bring stories beyond the screen.

Homeschoolers
Looking to sneak some literacy into your morning basket? Our episodes double as mini ELA lessons, blending story structure, character analysis, and creative thinking in a format that doesn’t feel like school. Plus, Mango and Papa’s banter keeps things light and lovable — even when tackling big ideas.

Teachers
Book in a Nook is a ready-made resource for classrooms and libraries. Use episodes as anchor texts, launchpads for writing prompts, or quick brain breaks between subjects. Stay tuned for teacher-friendly tools like episode guides, lesson extensions, and author interviews perfect for sparking meaningful discussions.

Mango & Papa
Meet Mango and Papa — the heart and humor of Book in a Nook! Papa is curious, kind, and always ready with a groan-worthy pun, while Mango is clever, bold, and full of big questions (and even bigger opinions). Together, they read stories, sing songs, and explore the world one cozy episode at a time — making learning feel like play.
Paul & Nicolas
Paul Thurwachter is a Los Angeles-based animator and video editor. Nicolas Chevaillier is a Berlin-based screenwriter and filmmaker. Paul and Nicolas have worked together and made each other laugh for over two decades. After having kids of their own, they both individually discovered the absolute joy of reading to their respective kids, Miyu and Mirai, and Leela. They enjoyed all of it; the voice acting, the little giggles, the deep talks that followed. The idea for Book in a Nook was born. Paul voices Papa, Leela voices Mango.
